We are all part of a complex and beautiful climate system.
This system brings us life-giving rains, air to breathe, and water to drink; it nourishes plants and food to grow, and shapes our local weather, wind and temperatures. The climate system brings us our seasons and weather cycles; storms as well as calm days; fertile agricultural growth as well as failure in the face of flooding or drought. In close partnership with other critical Earth systems, the climate shapes our very experience of life and well-being on this planet, caring for and sustaining us every single moment of our lives. With such power, the functioning of the Earth’s climate system plays a HUGE role in determining whether life will thrive or perish on this planet. By undermining it, we jeopardize life on this planet, including ourselves. In contrast, by being mindful of this system's critical role in all of our lives we can protect it, supporting a safe climate future for all of us. |
